Youth Ambassador

Go on, get out and about in the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site!

Join us and you’ll experience the exhilaration of being in a stark but beautiful industrial landscape, you’ll journey into the depths of the earth to see the dangerous world of extracting coal and you’ll witness the power and heat of making iron.

Take on the challenge of helping yourselves and other young people to have a voice in the World Heritage Site. We’ll help you develop your confidence, your self esteem, and your ability to solve problem so you can help adults and the community that you live in to really listen to young people’s views.

You’ll be able to volunteer for community events such as World Heritage Day, get involved with organising events, like Winter Wonderland, and the UNESCO UK World Heritage Youth Summit.

If you become a Blaenavon World Heritage Ambassador, you will:

  • Discover and explore the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape.
  • Make friends from all over the World.
  • Make a film and co-ordinate a film premiere.
  • Organise the World Heritage Youth Summit.
  • Manage events and workshops.
  • Go on fun days out to other World Heritage Sites.
  • Get qualifications and accredited training.
  • Attain volunteering hour’s awards and certificates.

Youth Ambassadors meet every Tuesday night at the World Heritage Centre in Blaenavon. Contact dan.oliver@torfaen.gov.uk for more information.
